In addition, the range of nutrients offered by the soup is good in terms of calories, protein and minerals.

So what makes this soup so popular? Its secret lies in the perfect blend of different ingredients:  it contains pork (Serrano ham) and vegetables like garlic, onion and parsley. Together, the ingredients satisfy the body’s needs as well as provide a good dose of nutrients.

In fact, this recipe is made up of almost 60% vegetables, so it has the perfect balance. It is also worth noting that this food is specifically designed for people with a deficiency, such as anemia.

Serrano soup is a delicious, filling and healthy soup.

This delicious soup gives you the healthy fats your body needs and keeps your bad cholesterol (i.e. LDL cholesterol) levels under control. In addition, it  also contains the finest cooking ingredient in the Mediterranean, namely garlic.

Necessary ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 large onion 
  • 7 cloves of garlic
  • little bunch of parsley
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • 5 medium tomatoes
  • 100 g of almonds whole
  • 200 g of Serrano ham
  • 4 slices of wheat bread

This is how this soup is made

  • First, wash all vegetables well.
  • Boil the eggs for ten minutes.
  • Put the eggs on a separate plate, and peel and chop them.
For the soup you need e.g.  Serrano ham, eggs and garlic.
  • Peel and crush the garlic cloves.
  • Put the  almonds and crushed garlic in a frying pan  with a little olive oil.
  • Allow the garlic and almonds to simmer a little to allow the flavors to mix perfectly.
  • Mix the peeled almonds and garlic in a blender to obtain a thick paste. You can add a little water if needed.
  • Next, the tomatoes are drizzled. Remove the tomato stems and place a small cross on the bottom of each tomato with a knife.
  • Boil the tomatoes for about two minutes in a small saucepan of boiling water,  and then remove the peel before cutting the tomatoes into small cubes.
  • Put it back in the same pan where you fried almonds and garlic – don’t wash it yet! Put the onions you cut into small cubes in the pan.
  • When the onion is browned, add the peeled and chopped tomato. Bake them on low heat for 20 minutes.
  • Carefully cut the Serrano ham into small cubes. The idea is to get as many pieces as possible from that amount of ham.
  • Add the chopped ham to the garlic-almond mixture and mix well.
  • Put both mixtures in a saucepan and put the egg pieces and a liter of water. Let simmer for 15 minutes. Add the parsley.
  • Cut the bread into small pieces and then fry in oil in a pan.

After letting the food cool down a bit, serve the soup with the bread –  enjoy this tasty meal alone or with you!
