Means to lighten dark elbows and knees

The skin on the elbows and knees tends to darken over time, with dead skin cells and other impurities accumulating tightly in the skin.  Although sometimes these areas are forgotten, if you peek now you will probably find that these areas are darker than the rest of the skin. We often use these areas as a support and put them on surfaces without thinking they can get dirty.

In addition to darkening the skin of the elbows and knees over time, they also tend to dry out because they do not have as many sebaceous glands as other areas. This can cause cracking, which makes the accumulation of impurities easier, making the skin uncomfortable in both its tone and texture.

While dark skin is not a disease that affects your health, it is not flattering. Fortunately, there are natural ways to lighten the skin on your elbows and knees, exfoliating a dead skin cell for a healthier look.

Baking soda

This all-natural, economical product is easy to find and is a natural exfoliator that helps remove dead skin cells and all types of impurities from the skin that cause that dark impression.

Instructions

  • Mix a little baking soda with a small amount of water to obtain a thick paste.
  • Rub the paste gently on your elbows and knees for five minutes. Finally, rinse with warm water.
  • You can rub these areas a little harder because their skin is thick and does not irritate easily.
  • It is important to moisturize these areas after treatment.
  • Repeat two to three times a week.

Oatmeal

Instructions

  • Mix two tablespoons of oatmeal with two tablespoons of fresh cream or milk.
  • Rub in a circular motion and leave on for a few minutes.
  • Rub for another 10 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
  • Add moisturizer after treatment.

Petrolatum

While Vaseline doesn’t actually work just like natural exfoliation, it is both moisturizing and brightening.  Use it after exfoliation for a whitening effect.

Instructions

  • Make a paste of floured chickpeas and water and put on your knees and elbows.
  • When the paste dries, rinse with cold water and dry thoroughly.
  • Put a large amount of Vaseline.
  • Wrap your knees and elbows with gauze or a bandage and let the Vaseline work overnight.

Olive oil

Instructions

  • Heat a little olive oil and put on your knees and elbows.
  • Rub the oil on the skin in the evening before going to bed.
  • Repeat three times a week for best results.
  • You can also use coconut oil or vitamin E.

Lemon

Lemon  is both an astringent and a brightener.  If you use it regularly, it can help remove dark marks from your knees and elbows. Use the lemon only in the evenings, because if the lemon comes in contact with sunlight, the effect may be the opposite of what you want.

Instructions

  • Wash your elbows and knees and rub the areas with lemon in a soft, circular motion.
  • Rub for ten minutes and allow to dry.
  • Repeat daily.
  • You can also mix with salt or sugar to form an exfoliator that removes dead skin cells.  Mix one part lemon and two parts sugar or salt and place on the knees and elbows in a massaging motion. Leave on for a few minutes and then rinse with cold water.
