Super easy homemade Neapolitan steaks

The meat companion for this meal is tomato sauce and vegetables.

You do not need an oven to make the recipe. It can also be prepared in the microwave, or you can use a gas burner to grill the sauce and cheese. So we use veal as meat, but you can also use chicken, pig, lamb or even turkey. The main thing is that you specifically use fillets.

Ingredients

  • 4 fillet steaks (1 kg)
  • 200 g breadcrumbs
  • 200 g of ham strips
  • 3 large tomatoes
  • 200 g of chopped mozzarella
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • basil leaves for decoration
  • 125 ml of water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • plastic wrap
  • kitchen paper

Manufacture of tomato sauce

  • First, put the tomatoes in a bowl and mash them into a puree.
  • Add water until you get a thick sauce.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator.

This is how you make easy Neapolitan steaks

Neapolitan steaks can be made from any meat.
Cook the steaks well before placing them in the oven.
  • Fry the fillets in a pan before placing them in the oven so that they do not remain raw.
  • To do this,  first place the breadcrumbs on a clean plate and spin the fillets in them.
  • Heat a little olive oil in a pan. Then fry the steaks until golden brown; they cook in the oven more later.
  • Take the steaks off the stove, place on kitchen paper and allow to cool.
  • When the steaks have cooled, place them on baking paper. Try to make them all fit on one baking sheet to reduce cooking time.
  • Put the tomato sauce you made on top of the steaks.
  • Then cover with more mozzarella and ham.
  • Finally, chop the onion and place it on a baking sheet.
  • Add the herbs and season well. Bake in the oven at 180 ºC for 10 minutes.
  • Take the steaks out of the oven, allow to set for a moment and garnish with basil leaves. Enjoy!

Tips for coatings

The cheese gives the food a great taste.
  • One tip is to marinate the meat a few hours before cooking. To do this, put the steaks on a tray, pour over the red wine and spices of your choice and leave in the fridge for two hours.
  • If you do not have an oven, you can use a microwave. They only need to be cooked for 3 minutes. Be careful not to burn them.
  • If you have a gas burner for cooking, you can use foil and flame it over to grill the sauce, cheese and ham.
  • You can also add other ingredients, such as sausage or mushrooms, just like in a pizza.
