Is Going To The Shower Many Times A Day A Nuisance?

Is going to the shower many times a day a nuisance?

Excessive showering  can be detrimental to your health – this is how you always hear someone say at times. However, is that claim true, or is it a mere myth? So this time, we ’ll get to know the topic of taking a shower and give you some useful information so you can evaluate how often it’s actually worth it. We also share a  few tips related to personal hygiene and showering.

Excessive washing in the shower

As you probably already know, all habits – including healthy ones – can become harmful to health if implemented too often. There is a particular problem with showering too many times a day, which makes it difficult to think of it as harmful – it is, in principle, something that makes you feel good.

When it comes to personal hygiene, it is always important that showering and other similar self-care is done in the right way. This way you will be able to maintain a balance between a sense of purity and the integrity of your own body. It is common knowledge that human skin is one of the most important organs in the body and is therefore an essential part of our “temple”. In addition, the skin is simply the largest human organ, and it is also the most exposed to bacteria.

Nowadays, it is common to take a shower several times a day, and there may be several reasons for this. These may include cooling your body on a hot day, washing up after exercise, or taking a hot shower to relax.  However, one should be a little wary of such constant showering, because, as we mentioned earlier, it is true that even good habits often become harmful to health when implemented too often.

Harmful ingredients in industrial detergents

There is widespread information today that many commercially available detergents contain large amounts of chemicals such as parabens and xenoestrogens . They may also contain, for example, ingredients based on crude oil, which are thought to have detrimental effects on human well-being, and such ingredients are often also associated with the development of some cancers.

Our skin is a vast and complex organ – so take good care of it!

As we have already mentioned, the skin is the largest organ in the human body and should therefore be taken care of as well as possible. Your skin has several oils as well as various natural substances, and excessive washing in the shower can affect this balance in a detrimental way.

Therefore, washing the skin many times during the same day should be avoided. This way, you can preserve the natural factors on your skin, such as bacteria. Bacteria are, in fact, one of the most important natural elements on your skin, and they are extremely important for your skin to be protected against extraneous substances.

How can you maintain a balance between going to the shower and health?

It is therefore clear from the foregoing that what is harmful is not the daily showering per se, but the frequent daily washing in the shower. If you shower more often during the same day and if you use products that are too strong and contain chemicals, then you are doing more harm than good to your health. With that in mind, we’ve put together here a small list of tips to help you keep a balance between the pros and cons of going to the shower.

  • Do not use too hot water. Most people love a pleasantly hot shower, and use any reason to enjoy it. However, it is good to keep in mind that prolonged exposure to hot water can cause problems for your skin. So if you want to enjoy hot water in the shower, take a shorter shower, and also keep the temperature a little lower than before.
  • Try using a gentle soap that contains fewer chemical ingredients. If you can buy natural soap, this is an even better option as it is more gentle on your skin.
  • The best way to wear face masks is to actually shower before, and not the other way around as is sometimes thought. This way, your skin does not absorb irritating chemicals that may be part of the mask ingredients.
  • After using, for example, shampoo, soap or other cleansers,  you should wash these substances thoroughly on your skin as they may dry it out. So make sure at the end of your shower that there are no residues of any detergent on your skin.

We recommend that you do not use a towel to dry your skin rough, as if you rub it against your skin very vigorously you may make it rough and dry. Instead, we would suggest that you pat your skin on instead of rubbing with a towel, and then put on some good quality moisturizer.

What is a good shower water temperature?

Finally, we want to say a few words about the temperature of the shower water, so here are a few tips on the subject.

When you want to take a cooler shower, we recommend a temperature of about  15 ° C, which will cause your skin to firm. If, on the other hand, you want a warmer shower, you could raise the temperature to 30 ° C, which will cause your whole body to relax.

Hot water can also be refreshing for the body, so a shower at a temperature of 40 ° C, for example, creates an invigorating feeling. This may sound strange, but it’s true: hot water can cheer you up. At such a high temperature, the body begins to let off heat from itself, and therefore feels actually refreshed. However, we do not recommend using hot water in large quantities or frequently, so such a shower should only last for a short time.
