A child’s dry cough can be caused by many possible factors. The most common causes include inflammatory diseases caused by rhinitis, bronchitis, or laryngitis.

There are also some cases that can cause a dry cough without an underlying disease. One example is when the environment is filled with tobacco smoke, excessive humidity, or when we experience a sudden change in temperature.

Some of the most common causes of a child’s dry cough include:

  • Extremely cold or dry environments
  • Air conditioning
  • Strong odors
  • Allergic reactions
  • Very dusty places
  • Respiratory tract irritation caused by runny nose or flu
  • Reflux disease or a similar illness

Natural treatments to relieve a dry cough in a child

There are many natural treatments that relieve the symptoms of dry cough. They help make your child feel better.

Adequate fluid intake

Drinking fluids is really important when suffering from respiratory irritation to improve symptoms.

Make sure your child drinks enough water  during the day. This keeps the mucous membranes moist. He should drink it at room temperature to minimize cough effectively.

Steam baths

Steam baths are another way to help your baby.

For best results, your child should inhale steam for about 20 minutes, if possible. This helps reduce irritation and moisturize the airways.

Check the temperature yourself first  so that it is not scorching hot.
